“THE DARK SIDE IS COMING NOW, NOTHING IS REAL…”
John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band
Modern occult “Vampire” symbolism is fictionally and functionally quite different than the propaganda spread throughout history and folklore. From “demons” and “devils” to Dracula, to beautiful sparkling in the sunlight Vampires… Suddenly, mainstreaming among the mundanes has never been easier for members of the real Living Undead.
— Joshua Free, from the Moroi Book of V: A Vampyre’s Bible
“GOTH-VAMPS” may carry only the outer “vampire” image to supplement an underground “Gothic” lifestyle involving music, fashion and fantasy gaming. Some writers distinguish between role-playing “Vampires” and practicing “Vampyres” with the spelling. But, these two categories are not mutually exclusive; one may easily lead to the other.
As much as the “Indies” and “Punks” hate all things that can carry a stereotype, there are simply certain tendencies and patterns fitting of a modern VAMPYRE lifestyle, and these are best distinguished universally as “Goth-Vamp” – as they seem to share much of the same music, clubs and styles.
Common elements:
–black clothing
–blood and bloodletting,
–creepy contact lenses,
–dark makeup,
–hollywood fangs and
–sanguine rituals

It’s no secret – VAMPYRISM is responsible for the functional launching of the entire modern Gothic movement and all of its influences…
The inception occurs in 1979 when the band BAUHAUS plays the anthem that would spark a new era of darksider post-Punk subculture – “Bela Lugosi’s Dead.”
This new brand of “Dark Punk” did not carry the same vibrant colorful angry antics of its predecessors. These lonely “Wanderers of the Night” were more methodical, darkly introspective and reserved – with some carrying deep “emotional scars,” with personalities reaching points of total misanthropy and nihilism…
