On a physical level, The Gates [Shrines] of the “Gods” at Babylon were created by MARDUK to call forth and unite (and perhaps entrap) the pantheon of the ANUNNAKI under one rule: the rule of the supreme ruler of the realms, the “Lord of the Earth,” a title originally bestowed upon but never actualized by ENKI, father of MARDUK. This designation was a title only and neither ENKI or his heir MARDUK were allowed sufficient freedom to rule by the Enlilites (Semitic and Judeo-Christian worshipers of ENLIL who is raised to “God” status in the traditional Old Testament). On a further pragmetic level, the priests and kings may have even been able to use the ‘StarGates’ of the ziggurat temples in each city (and the Astral Plane of Causation) to travel between places on the earth in a form of “teleportation” that is unknown to people today, and science is only recently even understanding a semantic and mathematical application of.

JOSHUA FREE explains: The exact nature of the Sumerian pantheon differs from the Babylonian one, but all of the ancient traditions observe the same “figures” (only the ranking changes). Even in other ancient cultures observing the ANUNNAKI pantheon, such as in Egypt and the tradition inherited in the “Classical” world by the Greeks and later Romans… all of them are the exact same ANUNNAKI pantheon, only the language-names are changed. Each is represented by the same Celestial Bodies (planets) and the names for these is also varied based on language, but is still appropriated to the same planets. The idea that an entirely different race-faction of super-powerful beings would be serving people in Colorado versus people in Wisconsin is utterly ridiculous.

As explained in the NECRONOMICON ANUNNAKI BIBLE edited by Joshua Free — In older traditions, the eldest of the Elder Gods, and those most closely aligned to them, are heralded the “Highest in the Heavens.” With the passing of time and also the eventual physical departure of all Chief Anunnaki from the Earth, it is the “younger generation” of ‘gods’ who appear to be held in high esteem, being more energetically ‘accessible’, to the priests and magicians of the middle-period Egyptian and Babylonian “Mardukite” traditions. For example, where the Sumerian pantheon highly emphasizes the lineage of ANU via ENLIL, these become ambiguous characters in the strictly Babylonian tradition, replaced by the icons: ENKI and MARDUK [known respectively as PTAH and RA in Egypt). [The distance between Egypt and Babylon is roughly the same as from Los Angeles to New Orleans…]

This concept of “Gateworking” extends back to ancient times when the priests worked alongside the ANUNNAKI in maintaining the Star-Gates of these “Sky-Gods,” (or “Star-Gods” or “Astral Gods” depending on semantics) places where glamour and mystique have since been lost when their power was deactivated and/or forgotten. These buildings were commonly stepped-pyramids built in seven stages and possessing seven main sections on their ascent. The most important (for our purposes) being the E.TEMEN.AN.KI or “Foundation Bond of Heaven and Earth” and another being the E.SAGILA (or ISAGILA), the official shrine-temple of MARDUK in BABYLON. The BABILI formula becomes increasingly important to follow for these structures to possess their authenticity.

The “Ladder of Lights” system of self-initiation that has been alluded to in revivals of Egypto-Babylonian traditions are also symbolic in nature. As in “speculative Freemasonry,” no literal “stairway” is attempted in “astral pathworking” and attention is transferred from the temple-shrine as a physical structure to the temple-shrine as the physical body (personal Self), a microcosm, literally a “miniature universe” unto itself. [Of course, this is not to say that physical manifestations of these Temples and Star-Gates could not be recreated physically — or that such efforts have not already been under way…]

This method grew in popularity in the Egypto-Babylonian Hermetic mysteries and, of course, the Chaldean and Mithraic traditions (and Zoroaster or Zarathustra) of older pre-dynastic models have a relatively higher focus on physical construction. It later became an important function of the priest and priest-king to oversee maintenance of (already built) temple-shrines as well as the activation of the symbolic-astral (energetic) “veils” or “layers” of the individual body-temples of the population.

The “Precession of the Gates” becomes the next topic in question. The “traditional” order familiar to prior devotees of Simonian Necronomics is valid for it’s purposes, but somehow in the world of form, in the physical construction of the Gates, the order is directly opposite from our vantage point. Additional lore coupled with this offers a few key complimentary suggestions. Firstly, that there are two sets (realizations or experiences) of “Gates” as is mirrored in the Semitic vision of the same “genetic tree” or Kabbalah one of “life and order” and another of “death and chaos,” but both under the watchful “Eye” of the One. Secondly, logic suggests that any series of thresholds placed in a successive order, such as this, is either single-directional, or again, subject to relative interpretation.

In our traditional case of creating “astral shields” over our “spirit-form” (such as was done originally to bind the spirit form into the “matrix” of light rays that is called “physical existence”) a Seeker works from the “first gate” as a base to begin self-initiation (or purification and re-dedication), in this case, the Moon. But, when we stand at the base of the physical Gate to the Gods, we are standing at the “Step of the Saturn Gate”, meaning that the tradition was designed first of and for the ANUNNAKI, themselves, for when “they” descend, from the top of the “ladder”, the first gate “they” come into contact with is the Moon. The lunar veil is also what most have experienced as the astral or “dreamscape” and so it is considered in many ways to be the most “accessible” or ‘nearest’ to the human range of experience of them all.

The ANUNNAKI must take on or “put on” their form in order to appear and interact as entities in the matrix of our existence. We, in turn, must remove these fantastic energies from our Self cumulatively to ascend the system. Implications of this show a new purpose to the personal “Gate-work” often called the “Ladder of Lights.” When performed with the common intention in mind, as alluded to in past works describing the Necronomicon Cycle, the “ascent” up the Ladder of Lights is meant to purify and amplify the shells over our “egg” of spiritual existence (Divine Spark) that gives us our identity in the world of form. However, working the pathway of the system backwards, back to the Source, can actually allow the dissolution of the “identity” in the “light matrix,” peeling away the layers of glamour attached to programmed existence like an onion…

This is accessible through one level of practicum: work which will lead to self-honest knowledge and experience of Self (and the Anunnaki). This is the true and faithful dedicated devotion that is prerequisite to this work in general. One could classify this first form of practicum as “magick” or “prayer” since it is based on a ‘transmission’ of intention for the sole purpose of establishing the necessary relationship (and communication) with ‘spiritual’ forces existing in the background reality of the material world.

Systematic spiritual and mystical prayer-books (not bound “books” of course, but cuneiform clay tablets) are found in the private collections and even bed-chambers of the most successful priest-kings, scribe-priests and magicians in Babylonian history. Although this part of the work is primarily “introspective” in nature and meant to prepare the individual, it can also be studied and developed in groups, orders and priesthoods (as it once was) — such as seen among the modern “Mardukite” revival occurring today!

Beliefs and judgments affect our personal attentions and flow of energies that use our being as a catalyst. We are all interconnected to the divine spiritual grid-like matrix. Energy flows where attention goes. To become an empty vessel is not enough – one must be filled with Truth, “true knowledge” and then only afterward, via dedication and commitment, can it be realized as “true understanding.”

Personal dedication in the material world means understanding the knowledge of how and why things are, and learning when to give up the hold on the narrow mindedness carried by all concerning their confrontations with fate. The powers and ethics that bind them are, in their most pure form, well beyond comprehension from a “human” point-of-view. This form of practice is also “introspective” — it composes “private” practices of members of the “priesthood” developed from personal work with the Anunnaki in ancient Mesopotamia (Sumeria and Babylon). This is different from ‘public’ displays and later more recognizable ‘folk magick’ of common people, which was usually more ‘superstitious’ in nature, often employing religious talismans and amulets.

The “ladder of lights” — as described in the NECRONOMICON ANUNNAKI BIBLE edited by Joshua Free — is not concerned with further accumulation of ‘additional fragmented energies’ or ‘layers of consciousness’, but rather the removal of these ‘artificial light filters’ by which the Anunnaki had influenced the parameters of awareness capable to humans in their experience of reality. This more cosmic development of practice could be classified as a “Celestial” form of “Ceremonial Magick.” This is not necessarily the same, one-to-one, with the contemporary understanding of what you may already know as “Ceremonial Magick.” However, the archetypal Mesopotamian practice of ‘high magick’ did evolve into the later Egyptian and European “Hermetic” practices as well as the Judeo-Christian forms of kabbalistic “Gnostic-Mysticism.”

An additional level of practicum also exists in ancient Mardukite Babylonian Tradition, closely identifiable with what anthropologists observe as ‘cultural magick’ and it was the only aspect of the tradition that allowed for public observation and participation. Compared to the previously described “religious” and “celestial” forms, this practice is highly qualified to earn the title “low magick” in many respects. It reflects everything we have come to expect from the cultural archetype of Babylon – the rites of national spirituality that further strengthened the ‘system’ and the people’s belief in it via annual festivals; the ritual gestures and idol statue use among commoners to accomplish fertility and healing effects (often with the assistance of priests, but not necessarily so); even the ‘personification’ or demonization of perceived ‘negativity’, or even ‘pestilence’ and ‘infertility’ as a means of ritually destroying evil in the land with ‘suggestive symbolism’ that later became the basis for a morally-defined demonology (such as seen in the maqlu series of tablets).

But… this is certainly not where the journey ends.

Powers of a dedicated priest and magician (and these are NOT to be misunderstood as gender-specific terms) are drawn from both internal and external sources. From within the power of this magick is drawn forth by BIRTHRIGHT! From without the power of the magick is drawn forth by DEDICATION! Combined, the practitioner effectively executes an “Invocation” which is to “invite in” a specific persona and energetic current. In our example, the Solar Lord of Jupiter, regardless of whether we label the current “Enki,” “Marduk,” “Aten,” “Amon,” “Jesus,” “Dys Pater” or “Jupiter” – the effect is unchanged and dependent solely on “true understanding” and the ability to tap into that specific current beyond titles and labels alone. The final introductory secret of this system is essentially revealed with an initiate’s first utterance of: “It is not I, but Marduk, that commands you…”

LOOKING BACK…NOW

In the end, what we take away to understand about the ancient world is: All of this resulted in a representation of the human relationship with the earth in ‘everyday life’ and ‘material existence’ on the planet within the systems of human civilization. In essence, just looking at these three aspects of the tradition described, one can even recognize the subsequent and cumulative fragmentation of the ‘systems’ as the relay of the energy evolved and developed outwardly among the human populations – and in essence, human consciousness. We begin with a self-honest life of unity with the ‘gods’ and a pious condition of ‘golden age’ living – ending with the use of waxen dolls to represent one’s enemy before a sacred fire and other forms of sympathetic magic used to affect worldly change at the most condensed end of the spectrum.

“With a prolific tradition of Necronomicons in existence, what need do we really have of another? To be succinct, this “Necronomicon Anunnaki Bible” provides the reader with access to some of the oldest and most powerful traditions in our history. The “cradle of civilization” is often considered to be ancient Mesopotamia, and if the roots of civilization in general might be found there, certainly we can trace the majority of our religious and spiritual heritage to that region, particularly to Sumer and Babylon.
There is delightfully minimal commentary involved in the book. Joshua Free includes an introduction to the book in general, and to each section of the book. These introductions are very economical, in that they are information intensive, yet say little which is unnecessary. In essence, they inform the reader of the context and nature of the texts introduced, and provide some frame of reference as to where the texts fit within the Mardukite tradition. The remaining content of the book consists of copious translations of ancient texts from principally Babylon and Egypt. These are incredibly informative, and are so organized as to highlight the harmonies between ancient traditions.
Certainly, anyone interested in the history of the occult traditions, the Simon Necronomicon, or even the history of religion will find this book invaluable for its compilation of the authentic source material of many of our traditions. The only caveat to this is that the reader must be willing to displace dogma and read with an open mind in order to gain any real insight from this book. One does not need to agree with the interpretations offered, but they easily offer very worthwhile food for thought.”

“Forget Lovecraft. So many people are adamant about pointing out the obviousness of his <em<Necronomicon being an idea in a work of fiction. That’s right, it is. It is an idea, which is why the N-word is included in the title. Simon also presented a Necronomicon, and while considered valuable for those who have actually put into practice the contents of his book, some consider the work to be incomplete. The “Necronomicon Anunnaki Bible” edited by Joshua Free runs along the same vein as Simon, in that it presents a Mesopotamian-inspired system of magick. But it is much more than that. The inclusion of the word “Bible” in the title is very suitable as it includes a huge collection of lore pertaining to man’s origins and the gods that originally governed the planet, much like the Holy Bible itself.
As I understand it, the author founded a research organization whose goal was to re-discover the original system of magick and religion. Their investigating began with the earliest writings available, the clay tablets unearthed from the Middle-East inscribed in cuneiform. From those translations came most of the contents of this book. Much of the material revolves around mythology, mostly Babylonian but also including Egyptian and a few others, but there are also guidelines for applying the knowledge. In the end, this is a revival effort, an attempt to reconstruct the oldest spiritual system known to man.
As practicality goes, some of the information is cryptic, or maybe some aspects are flexible and require experimentation, but there is much to be found. Because of the sheer volume of this book, more than one reading will most likely be required to absorb all the information. “Chapters” are comprised of tablets whose designation determined the order, so the information is not necessarily read in order from the first page to the last. The style of magick is more of a “priestly” approach, a way of life, as opposed to randomly lighting a candle, making a wish while drawing out a sigil, and knowing that thy will be done as you blow out the flame. The system presented centers around spiritual evolution rather than material gains.
If you’re looking for Lovecraft’s Necronomicon, look elsewhere for you will be most disappointed with this title. Why anyone would even want that version to be real is beyond my comprehension. But if you’re looking for wisdom from some of the world’s oldest writings, this is a valuable resource. It’s also worth noting that the “Necronomicon Anunnaki Bible” is the foundation for many works by Joshua Free, and many of his other books refer to this one for additional information or to elaborate certain ideas.”

The evolution of the MARDUKITE NECRONOMICON has been beyond incredible – it has become not only a work of art, but undying spiritual devotion to the Source of all existence and the pursuit of undefiled truth behind human beliefs and cultural expressions.
