Fifteen years ago, on the Summer Solstice (June 2008), an underground ‘New Age’ author, Joshua Free, known only by pseudonyms during the 1990’s, publicly emerged in the New Millennium with a new vision for a spirito-mystical movement and a literary tradition — or library — that would support it. Here, in 2023, fifteen year after the fact, most would agree that such was successfully accomplished.
And the Mardukite Legacy is, itself, only one leg of the complete journey proposed by the author — but it was certainly a critical one for what later developed as ‘Mardukite Systemology’ and continues to be developed by the Mardukite Research Org (Mardukite Academy) and the Systemology Society.
Several years ago, the ‘Mardukite Core’ (the materials developed by Joshua Free for the Mardukites between 2009 and 2012) began to be used for the modern practice of ‘Mesopotamian Neopaganism‘ within the ‘New Age’ community. Joshua Free encouraged this and founded the ‘Church of Mardukite Zuism’, adapting the work of the Mardukite Chamberlains for a ‘religious education’ in “Mardukite Zuism” that serves as the predecessor to “Mardukite Systemology”.
These materials have since been released to the public in special pocket paperback editions that compose an ongoing library that chronicles the work of the ‘Mardukite Chamberlains’ as it pertains to the launch and continuance of “Mardukite Zuism” underground and publicly all around the world.

Mystic philosopher and prolific esoteric author Joshua Free publicly founded Mardukite Ministries (Mardukite Zuism) on the Summer Solstice of 2008, coinciding with the underground release of “Arcanum” and an updated version of “Book of Elven-Faerie” (now available within “The Elvenomicon” volume, and the new collected works Master Edition hardcover anthology, “Merlyn’s Complete Book of Druidism”)—but it was really in early 2009 that the Mardukite Research Organization (Mardukite Chamberlains) were established and began the practices that led up to the discovery and release of not only “Necronomicon: The Anunnaki Bible” but also the remaining “Mardukite Core” of material, an entire practical esoteric research library now available in one Master Edition hardcover anthology: “Necronomicon: The Complete Anunnaki Legacy.”
The Mardukite Chamberlains archives (preserved for posterity within the “Mardukite Master Course”) reveal the sentiments expressed by Joshua Free concerning the original inception of the “work” when delivering a message to the Mardukite Chamberlains (Council of Nabu Tutu) on April 3, 2009 (before even the first Beltane Marduk StarGate Global Meditation and Ritual Working had ensued), a portion of which is excerpted here:
“On the course of the Great Work, we have discovered that these semantic trappings are counter-productive to achieving desired results. Many Seekers will find themselves ‘thinking’ outside of one ‘box’ only to be fixed by parameters of another. To give an example of such semantic limitations: the main Mardukite function this month—and something that will be taking much of my time throughout April, and perhaps immediately thereafter depending on the results, so I apologize in advance for my social/correspondent availability for the next month—is called the “Marduk 2009 Beltane StarGate Opening.” We adapted this operation from lore and cuneiform tablets that will go on to compose our own “Babylonian Necronomicon”—which I expect more work to unfold toward after effectively shattering the “Sixth Seal” and ‘Gate of the Apocalypse.’ Just these key words alone are going to yield a specific semantic interpretation; because that is how the mind works. This could either be an incredibly positive statement to an individual or negative; and what is it that decides that? Our programming! For in essence, even in a world of infinite potentialities and ‘belief creating realities’ we still agree to and self-subject ourselves (willingly) to any paradigm appropriately ‘systematized’ and this includes all underground, counter-culture and ‘new consciousness’ groups as well… which are always in danger of self-limiting as a mirror of what they tried to get away from in the first place. As Truth Seekers, Mardukite Zuists and Mardukite Systemologists within (or at least within earshot of) our fellowship have known for quite some time, the primary “Year-1 Mardukite Chamberlains Core Curriculum” of study we proposed under the umbrella of “Necronomicon” (now known as “Necronomicon: The Anunnaki Bible” and contained within the omnibus anthology “Necronomicon: The Complete Anunnaki Legacy”) was originally composed of three separate volumes (“Liber N”, “Liber L”, “Liber G”, plus an little known fourth called “Liber 9”).
“Liber N” began circulating among Mardukite Chamberlains Council of Nabu-Tutu in Spring of 2009. Fragments and ideas first appeared as a small publication, “Marduk & the Anunaki.” But the real culmination, along with its interpretation, was the direct result of work conducted simultaneous with the “Marduk Gate” operation during Beltane of 2009 and the “Lapis Editions” of Joshua Free’s “Necronomicon” (numbered of 60) released on the Summer Solstice of the same year, 2009, a year after the inception of the movement.
“For Beltane in 2009, the presiding Nabu Maerdechai, Joshua Free banded together with other Mardukites all over the globe to conduct a synchronized ‘opening’ of the Marduk Gate using the Ancient Babylonian Tradition. In normal operations, this would be done alone and closed at the end of the rite. For Beltane 2009, the South Gate was strongly thrust open by many dedicates and left open to all until the End of Days—to the gain of all devotees who wish to access the current of Marduk directly. It is very important, of course, for us to clarify what we mean by Grades and distinguish the materials that pertain to each. In most instances, instruction for these first three Grades—as delivered in the materials (books and lectures) by Joshua Free over the past 25 years—was all self-administered; meaning it has been explored independent of properly structured groups or trained instructors. In the past, Seekers selected a volume at random, had at it on their own for a while, then walked away with whatever level of understanding might be attained, even if severely fragmented. Direction of the Mardukite Master Course loosely follows a chronological pathway charted by Joshua Free from 1995 through 2019—meaning: from the release of the first “Merlyn Stone” Grade-I discourses on “magick” and “Druidism” until the recent completion of Grade-III “Mardukite Systemology.” Between these Grades, a Seeker discovers abundant source material known as the “Mardukite Core” comprising Grade-II–the materials contained within NECRONOMICON: THE COMPLETE ANUNNAKI LEGACYby Joshua Free.
It can be said that the Grades are all a part of a single continuum—one which is explored in a “reverse engineering” style in order to provide the greatest certainty for effective workable future applications that will advance the spiritual evolution of the Human Condition, particularly the Self that is participating in and experiencing a co-creation of the Physical Universe and a continued existence of its conditions. As a single continuum, the Grades do actually overlap on many points—and often times these “bridges” between levels of understanding are what we are highlighting profusely for our Mardukite Master Course. This preferred approach—treating the universal knowledge and its records as a single wholeness rather than an emphasis on individual parts—developed after many years of experiment and discovery!
Earliest attempts at understanding ancient Mesopotamia were made by “Assyriologists” of the late 19th and 20th century. These included: E.A. Budge, Edward Chiera, L.W. King, S.L. Noah Kramer, Franqois Lenormant, R.C. Thompson and L.A. Waddell among others. Their renderings have already received long-standing public attention for those who sought it. The variegated cultural influences and often violent history of Babylonia left a confusion of names, titles and images–all of which required over a century to flush out to any practical ends, by scholars and mystics alike.
Origins for the scientific field-name of “Assyriology” are derived from French excavations at the city ruins of Khorsabad, Nimrud, Nineveh, Sippar and Lagash (Telloh) in the 1840’s. However, a true scientific pursuit was ignited when the royal library archives of the Assyrian king Assurbanipal were discovered. Thousands of clues, in the form of cuneiform tablet writings, illuminated a prehistoric legacy formerly thought of as completely forgotten and never again salvageable.
Then, in the 1880’s, German archaeologists unearthed Babylon…
In 2008, a revolutionary esoteric underground organization known as the “Mardukites” appeared, publicly visible, and a completely new breed of next generation “Esoteric Assyriologists” emerged on the scene—one that would not blindly accept the given data from their predecessors—at least not at face value.
The Mardukite Core – (Necronomicon Version)
For over a decade this diversely organized research group sought out the most ancient writings rendered on clay tablets from Babylonia—now available to the public as a complete collection in Joshua Free’s “Necronomicon: The Anunnaki Bible” (also released in paperback as “The Complete Anunnaki Bible”). These writings demonstrate an integral link directly between our origins and the remaining evolution of human civilization. Our chosen method and the resulting clarity revealed concerning the identity, nature and progression of this incredible subject matter show undeniable superiority to what was previously available. But, that is what we call progress
(much needed for this field).
The Mardukite approach to reconstructing the Babylonian vision begins with first revealing the incredible misnomer that the field of study has endured far too long, for essentially, the applicable term “Assyriology” is a lie. It is not even semantically correct for our current pursuits of analysis using the same physical evidences brought to light by late 19th and early 20th century archeology. The name questionably applies to the field at all! And although some early scholars acknowledge this grave misrepresentation of the science, it has as yet gone unchallenged in contemporary academics.
George G. Cameron explains in his foreword to Edward Chiera’s “They Wrote on Clay” (1938):
“Few there are indeed who know that the name of our science, ‘Assyriology’ is based on an accident—the fact that the first large group of texts ever discovered were written in Assyrian. Assyrian itself is but one dialect.”
Misapplication arises with use of the term to denote study of any and all ancient cuneiform-using cultures. Mardukites do not propagate this blatant disregard for the political and spiritual history of Mesopotamia. Although cuneiform-literate and sharing a similar “Anunnaki” tradition, the Assyrians were actually northwestern foreigners to Babylon. The two are not
the same.
True esoteric analysis or mystical application is absent from the earliest academic-archaeological pursuits. These efforts mainly emphasized the recovery and accumulation of translatable materials, much of which are not yet coherently transliterated into English language even a century after their discovery. Most materials readily available to seekers during the pre-mardukite era of research and development are severely fragmented, confounding itself in the information relay.
In spite of the best (or worst) human efforts across time, the Truth has survived to remind us of our origins, to instruct us on where we have to go and perhaps, most importantly, the standards we should live by to get there. Mere survival of Secret Doctrines by select cabals is not enough. For as the world was once plummeted into Dark Ages only to be reincarnated in an Age of Enlightenment, the “esoteric” truth did not resurface in public “exoteric” consciousness—in fact, it went the other direction: underground and into vaults of obscure “occult” factions…
