At the original original inception of Joshua Free’s modern Mardukite movement over a decade ago, a lack of specific widespread criteria and materials (such as we now have available) forced many to observe the first “2009 Beltane Gate” operation uniquely on an individual basis–practicing intention-based “rites,” “meditations” or “ceremonial expressions” of their own design: dancers danced, artists created, ceremonialists…ceremonied(?)… but the most important part of it all…

At the Mardukite Offices in 2009, the original group of esoteric practitioners still relied on outdated occult sources to base the structure of their practices regarding the Babylonian spiritual-gate system prior to the Mardukite literary developments since produced over the past decade by the Mardukite Research Organization its and “Council of Nabu-Tutu,” a select band of long-term and experienced alumni from within this brand of work.

The Spring season is a very active time for the Mardukite Babylonian Anunnaki Tradition–beginning with the Akiti New Year Festival on the Spring Equinox, March 21, when the sun would enter the sign of Aries, sacred to Marduk, the patron god of Babylon, Babylonia and Babylonians over 4000 years ago. Arab’s Lost Grimoire: The Real Truth Behind Simon’s Necronomicon, the Anunnaki and H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos

Among many facts borrowed from the Cthulhu Mythos and adopted for the Simon Necronomicon, the idea that it originated from the pen of a “Mad Arab” named Abdul Alhazred is entirely Lovecraftian, indicated nowhere within the text of the Necronomicon aside from the editor’s commentary and again in regards to the work of H.P. Lovecraft.

This kind of logic is attacked by critics and used to undermine the true ‘between-the-lines’ message the Simon Necronomicon carries in reviving interest in the post-Sumerian “Mardukite” or Babylonian archetypal methodology (or systemology).

The problem arises with identifying the author or even dating manuscripts or versions of the ancient tablets being laid down from presumably the original author’s memory. The bait-and-switch occurs when we again apply the Lovecraftian basis and the logic is mutated to occur as follows:

a) the work of Lovecraft defines the Necronomcon
b) according to Lovecraft the book is written by Abdul Alhazred in the 8th century
c) the Simon work is called the Necronomicon
d) — therefore: the Simon Necronomicon is written by the “Mad Arab” Abdul Alhazred in 8th century Damascus. QED.

…such thinking is obviously flawed.


The main text of the Simon Necronomicon begins with the ‘first part’ of what has been sectioned off as the Testimony of the Mad Arab. The ‘second part’ composes the book’s epilogue. Although ancient Mesopotamia served as the origins
of language, civilization and ultimately ‘religion,’ it had grown or evolved, fragmented with time into something very different by the time of the Necronomicon’s alleged beginnings in 8th century Babylonia. We are meaning 800 years after the birth of Jesus Christ, long after the decline of true ‘paganism’ in the name of some new ideal or another (not always ‘Christian’).

‘Paganism’ as a rural folk tradition is not really even what the original archetypal Anunnaki system is about – being a national religion – but it is certainly a starting place for later ‘country’ beliefs and surviving remnants of ancient wisdom in the wake of later urban Christianization. But, the beautiful harmony of the ‘complete system’ was ever lost to the public for thousands of years until relatively recently in light of the intensive and rigorous work being (and having been) conducted by the Mardukite Chamberlains in their post-modern next generational relay of the Anunnaki legacy in total.

By the time of the 8th century, paganism, witchcraft and the contemporary idea of magick and occultism was not looked ‘highly’ upon by global society, not only as a result of rising Christianity but also in accord with the growth of the new Arabic and Middle Eastern religions that had formed thousands of years after the inception of the Babylonian tradition. The “Old Ways” were shunned regardless of their increased clarity and advanced nature.

As explained in the preface to the second edition of our own Necronomicon Anunnaki Bible, the Schlangekraft Recension was “alluding to a tradition that significantly predated itself. The work was not ‘ahead of its time’, but was instead lagging
‘behind its time’, seeking to preserve, perhaps from the memory of its allegedly Arabic author, the lore and traditions of a dying or dead Mardukite priesthood.”

“The book is not at all like what we would expect to find from a living tradition being operated in Babylon such as theoretically could have been carried by priest-magicians of Marduk and Enki – though they relied solely on catalogues (collections) of hardened clay tablets versus the papyrus and paper (scrolls) more easily conjured to mind concerning magical and religious documents. Instead of this, the Simon Necronomicon are more in line with an antiquated reconstructionist (or revivalist) effort, such as we might find throughout other examples existent in the ‘New Age’ today.” ~ Liber-R, Necronomicon Revelations

According to its author, the Necronomicon is the “Book of the Dead” and also the “Book of Black Earth,” which is a reference to the “Magan” lands (or Arabian Desert) that separates Mesopotamia from Egypt. Further, it is suggested that the knowledge therein is comprised of what was learned while ‘traveling’ on the ‘spheres’ of the Igigi – meaning “Watchers” or “Guardians” (sometimes referred to as “overseers”) that were a subservient class of Anunnaki being. The Igigi were akin to ‘angels’ or ‘messengers’ whereas the Anunnaki proper composed the actual ‘pantheon’ of the ‘gods’.

Up until the current MARDUKITE efforts and work of Joshua Free, few of the publicly visible “New Age” writers and occult spokes-people really had much to say concerning the SIMON NECRONOMICON – many of them wishing it would just go away, or at the very least, that people would stop bothering them about it.

Needless to say, in the post-Lovecraftian world it was, up until the MARDUKITE efforts, the only of the ‘possible versions’ available to the public that was of ‘true’ and ‘authentic’ merit in regards to a historical tradition. Many people criticized the SIMON NECRONOMICON for not being Lovecraftian enough – which was interesting, since the same people also said that the book had been invented by Lovecraft.

This current discourse (Liber 555) is an expert commentary on the Simon Necronomicon as it appears – meaning a bastardized tradition emerging from the catacombs of ancient “Mardukite” Babylon. What we do not see evident, as we should expect (and clearly what threw many people off the track) is the lack of Lovecraftian themes in the Simon Necronomicon. Any mention or similarity within the text of the Simon work as compared to the ‘stories’ of H.P. Lovecraft is most likely the ‘creation’ of the modern editors in order to market their Mesopotamian Magic as the Necronomicon.

In these types of post-Christian era accounts, such as we see with the Medieval and Dark Age era grimoires of the period, the magick and traditions are reflective to a ‘polarity’ that does not actually exist. For example, the entire idea behind ‘devil worship’ and ‘satanism’ is entirely dependent on the existence of these beings as they are generally understood – something which only came about as a result of the Judeo-Christian level of consciousness that came to occupy the masses. Prior to this ‘introduction’ of the ‘devil’ by Christian standards it would have been completely impossible to have proper ‘devil worship’ or satanism. The entire mythology that people are most likely to know regarding these matters is Hebrew and Christian in origin, making suggestion toward an understanding of the world based on a moral or ethical dualism that is not at all present in the traditions and writings of the more antiquated ancient world.

One modern ceremonial occultist bridging the gap between Crowley’s era and the modern one, is Kenneth Grant. While some of Grant’s earlier works could only allude to connections between Crowley’s magick and specifically Lovecraftian interpretations of the Necronomicon, more recent installments of Grant’s work make citations from what he calls: the Schlangekraft recension – the Simonian Necronomicon.

NecroRev2ndEd2014frontcrop The manner in which the tome is related to in Grant’s volume from the Typhonian Tradition of the Ordo Templi Orientis, titled Outer Gateways, concerning communications made by ceremonial magicians of magical lodges with the “Old Ones” or “Deep Ones” shows that he evidently took this seriously. That Kenneth Grant essentially inherited the O.T.O. organization and following of Aleister Crowley establishes that the Schlangekraft recension was far from the only means, or even remotely close to their own means of making contact with alien intelligences. But Grant knew of, acknowledged (no doubt made successful use of) and celebrated the work at length as a very real “portal to the Abyss.”

“Where the New Age is concerned, a lot of the occultism is ‘Judeo-Christian’ – the Keys of Solomon, for example; the Secret Books of Moses and all of that stuff. It was all based on a Jewish and Christian concept. With the coming of the New Age you did have a rise in neopaganism, but there was not a system of ‘ceremonial magick’ for a neo-pagan mentality; it [ceremonial magick] was, again, based on Jewish and Christian concepts, which were themselves borrowed from pagan origins, but the pagan origins were gone for the most part. In a sense the Simon Necronomicon filled a need for people with a true neopagan interest to become involved with the ‘higher magics’ so to speak.”

Rather than a “Cthulhu mythos” drawn from the semantics used by H. P. Lovecraft to describe the dreams and visions he experienced and accounted for in his artistic creations, the Schlangekraft recension offers a preliminary means by which someone with no background in Mesopotamian cultures or ancient cuneiform tablets can quickly immerse themselves – thereby unlocking that personal subconscious portal into the “Other.” It is by no means complete and certainly not wholly accurate, but that is not to say it has not served its purpose in the greater scheme – in the system – just as the contributions of others, intricately interwoven, have.

P. Lovecraft, Kenneth Grant, Aleister Crowley, Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows & Simon Necronomicon: An Anunnaki Conspiracy” by Joshua Free. This new edition includes literary excerpts from the later cycle Mardukite Liber 555.

When the Simon Necronomicon was first released, a very select few were privy to this ‘type’ of understanding concerning a truly archetypal, pre-classical and pre-Christian methodology – a root system by which many other branches of the tree were later formed and perceived as separate, whether because of semantics or their locale in time and geography. Even those supposed occultists and New Agers at that point had very little background in the mythos being dealt with – which was not at all Lovecraftian, or even Sumerian as many other believe, but Babylonian!

1biblesixthfrontCROP Based on Mardukite Babylonian research, the Necronomicon paradigm is a very serious subject, well beyond the scope of Lovecraftian fantasies, that those of us who have been “blessed” to be involved in its necessary consciousness-changing return for modern times, take very seriously. Unlike many of the Necronomicon critics out there who simply scream “hoax” to anything that bares the title, the current Mardukite institution is more sympathetic toward the paradigm shift provided by the Simon contribution.

It is not Sumerian in origin as many thought and as its own editors profess. While it is true that Sumerians occupied the space geographically linked to its birth-place, but their tradition is not actually evident in the work other than what was absorbed into the later tradition that the Simon work is actually based – Babylon.

It is clearly laced with the Mardukite-specific spiritual politics found strongest in Babylonian traditions and literature, which are often mirrored in Egypt. Among these, of course, being the centralized veneration of MARDUK-RA as the “Lord of the Gods,” something entirely absent in the previous original Sumerian Tradition.

Following the idea presented in the Lovecraftian work more than the actual content drawn from Mesopotamia, the Necronomicon was presented as that all-too-familiar long-lost sorcerer’s “black book,” the “most dangerous and powerful” on the planet. In some ways, the hype is justified. The work was certainly monumental for its time, and even remains a cornerstone today, although its efforts have since been surpassed by the work of the Mardukite Research Organization.

NecronomiconBegcovercrop Very few, even those who had studied cultural folk mythologies and other pagan pantheons revived by the “mystical movements” of the last centuries, had gained any access to or understanding of the ancient Mesopotamian methodologies that predated all the rest. This change in human consciousness was not only monumental, but intentional – an integral part of a larger picture where spiritual forces have indeed been directing the course of many events in recent past. Among these were some many profound ventures in the 1970’s that bridged the 60’s to the 80’s via visions and manifestations that some might have never conceived of prior. The music changed. The media changed. The very colors being perceived in the world changed – more real, surreal and yet wholly artificial.

A new Babylon – a new Mardukite age – was rising…

The technological age was counter-balanced with an extreme sense of “fantasy” and “spiritual occultism,” such as human civilization had not seen for a very long time. It was a necessary program to be followed to temper the rise of the electronic gods – those which have been raised to supremacy by their human creators. Feeling that the Old Gods have left them, the humans have felt this overwhelming need to raise another in its place – this time, by their own creation – or so they think. It was not until the fantasy enthusiasts and Lovecraftian Necronomicon readers started getting together with the science-fiction and Sitchin-eqsue circles in the late 1970’s that the “mainstream population” outside of the orders like the Golden Dawn or O.T.O. were given a chance to understand what was already known in the underground for thousands of years – the existence and nature of the Anunnaki!
